I need ma right now.
The building next to mine is on fire.
We are evacuating now. God help us.
eta: Thanks be to all that be. My house smells strongly of smoke, but the fire is contained and we are okay.
The fire was in the one room that actually attaches to my house and, that room is completely destroyed. Coping ~ma going out to my neighbor, Kim, her cat and dog.
I know it might seem odd that the last thing I did before darting out of a burning building was to come to you, but my faith in this collective energy is huge. Thank you so much for the strong vibes.
We are well, and grateful.
The buyer for my house terminated the contract because they are afraid that at some point in the future there might be a termite infestation, and her sensitivity to unspecified chemicals would lead to personal discomfort. While I am sorry that her sensitivity to chemicals has had such an effect on the logical portion of their brains, the fact that they've strung me along, precluded any other offers, and quit with such spurious rationale leads to a situation where I can't help but wishing unending asthma and a plague of insects upon both. I will probably feel less vengeful after I finish my coffee.
Requesting work~ma. It's not a personal thing, but more of a company thing, which I don't feel I can say much about at this time.
Kitty ~ma, please. Leo is spending the night at the vet so they can keep an eye on him. X-ray showed no obstructions, but the vet thinks he may have pancreatitis. I am worried about my kitty boy.
I am settling into my new place, and have officially got internet again! Woot! So, no longer iPhone/grey status.
My big bike ride (140 miles, 2 days) to support the most awesome Moveable Feast of Maryland is happening this coming weekend. It means so much to me to be able to support them in their work especially this year (I talk about it a bit on my fundraising page.

Buffistas have, as usual, been incredibly generous. You all are truly amazing. Thank you!!!
My friend N has a phone interview, after getting no responses to her resumes for months. Further interview-ma and job-ma for her please.
Just got the "you are a valued employee but due to downsizing, we regret to inform you" speech. A little bit numb at the moment. Not necessarily sad. Oh and I was on fmla for the next month. Bastards. Oh and effective tomorrow on my birthday. Double Bastards. Anyway, please send some relax ~ma and don't let this make you anxious ~ma. I tend to be a worrier.
While I am completely aware of the inadvisability of drunk posting, I am none-the-less compelled. (and having to retype everything...seriously.)
I'm a little...I don't know...depressed, I guess, about a possible loss coming up.
My beloved Niki put off some needed surgery until after the memorial service for Gordon, which was lovely in every way.
It seems that she has an aortic aneurysm that will be operated on next Wednesday, the 19th. According to the doctors, there is a better than 50% chance that she will not make it off the table. But it's this or waiting for a sudden 'pop'.
I suppose, what I'm asking for is good thoughts for the right thing. I don't need her to stay, on my account...though the idea of being orphaned...again...isn't pleasant. I just don't want her to suffer. At all. For any reason.
So. I don't need hairpats or vibes for my potential loss, but just 'whatever is right for her' vibes for my beloved surrogate mom. She has been a greater gift then can be described, for 25 years.
I don't want to be preemptively sad, but I am a little, if I'm honest. I had such hopes for her post-Gordon life.
Heh. Know how I know that I'm drunk posting? No mistakes!!
I know I've been grey for a while, but just fyi, if you have been following international news and are aware of the fun and games going down in Bangkok right now, I am okay. But my apartment, on the map they show there, is about an inch down from the Redshirt Barricades - thus I have been hearing gunfire and explosions and having helicopters buzz by all day - work having been cancelled, as we're on the very edge of the hot zone. The hot zone has now stretched so that my school is kind of in the middle of it. There are Soldiers and protesters and barbed wire & everything at the end of my road, but not, at this point, fighting ON my actual street. Also, the electricity has not been cut off in my apartment, and neither has the water, so that's good.
But, you know - I could do with a little less excitement right now. And I CANNOT BELIEVE the way my Spring is going so far.
