Kaylee: So how many fell madly in love with you and wanted to take you away from all this? Inara: Just the one. I think I'm slipping.

My sister-in-law's brother, who I posted about a bit back as being diagnosed with terminal cancer, passed away last Friday (as, through a bunch of circumstances, mainly assumptions on my mother's part that I don't blame her for making, I just found out). He was 40. The treatments to give him a little extra time to travel or just a little extra time didn't work.

Fuck cancer.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

So, turns out my Mom had a "small" stroke on Saturday morning. Finally positively diagnosed yesterday. She gets some further testing today. She says she's really feeling the difference in walking (already not great for her with diabetes and back issues) and increased pain and she really sounds like she's getting very depressed.

Any damage not too extensive, easy recovery, positive feeling-ma would be appreciated.

DCistas, I have 3 vouchers for food at Union Station. They are good until 12/31/09. If you'd like a free lunch, let me know and I'll mail 'em to you.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Hey, if anyone has any spare "find the right job"~ma floating around, I'd like it. My last day here is on Friday, so I am now officially in the hunt.

Trust my rage

Ellie is home from the hospital and happy to be here. A big thanks to everyone who sent stuff. She had a great time opening envelopes, looking at cards, and playng with all the stuff. This community doesn't surprise me, because I know how great we are, but it does make me very happy.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

A little Mom-ma would help. It seems that she's got a collapsing vertebra now, so I'm heade back to PA to help with doctor's appointments and general-purpose hand-holding. Perhaps a little coping-ma for me might help, too.

“Not dead yet!”

Well, after being very grayish 'round these parts and elsewhere to take care of all the preparations, tomorrow is the day. I check into the hospital and prepare to go under the knife for some very much needed girly bits surgery.

Yes, I'm trying to make light of it because frankly, I'm nervous and scared pretty much out of my tiny little mind. Anyhow, any good thoughts or ~ma that anyone has to send my way, I'd very much appreciate it.

See y'all on the flip side.

Oh, I will have my iPhone with me so I can get texts & emails, but I don't guarantee to be coherent for a few days.

If I could request some health- and job-ma for my sister M. She got laid off last month, and then just got diagnosed with lupus.

She was all ironical about it in that she was worried the diagnosis was going to be cancer but, as she said, "But, nooo, I have to get something weirder." If she watched House I would have shared another irony with her, but since she doesn't, it would take too much explaining.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

My dear friend Donna Burley passed away last night. She fought a brave battle with breast cancer for three years. I'm sad for myself that I did not get to say my good-byes in person as I had planned to this week, but I am also relieved that she is no longer suffering.
