Zoe: What's that, sir? Mal: Freedom, is what. Zoe: No, I meant what's that? Mal: Oh. Yeah. Just step around it. I think something must've been living in here.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I have been dark for the last week, because I fell off a chair, went to the hospital, lost my at home internet, was swamped at work with grading (when I wasn't on Vicodin because of the arm).

I have gotten books from Alaska and from Erika! Thanks, guys! More personal responses later, and I will respond to emails and such next week, but I just posted grades and it's 3:45 on Friday, and I am getting the fuck out of here.

Love you all! Byeeeee....

My powerbook has (once again) decided to melt down, and this time reformatting the hard drive took multiple tries and still doesn't seem to have worked real well...I think I'ma have to send it in for service or something, we'll see what the Genius Bar says when I take it in on Monday.

Which is to say, I may be sans home computer for a while here, since I don't check b.org from work...I'ma try to catch up a bit right now, see how long this thing lasts before freaking out again, but after that I'll likely be dark grey for a bit.

(edit: but i should have email at work, so if anyone *needs* me, or just wants to entertain me, I'm mearagirl, on yahoo)

All this time, I thought Hunter was a bitch. Turns out she was just hungry.

I brought my uncle home from the hospital today. There's nothing more they could've done for him and he wanted to come home. So home is where he'll leave this world.

....and, my grandmother died this evening. Apparently she'd been in the hospital all week, and no one bothered to tell me. My mother called and was like "So, what's up? Oh, not much...your grandmother's dead...just thought I'd let you know". Right.

So, um, -ma for my mom? She told me not to come home, but I think she's kinda in shock. I mean, black humor is all well and good in my fam, but...

I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

I move into halls at the University of Nottingham today. Expect blackness (I know I'm very dark anyway...sorry about that. I do read Fic, and Unamericans, and COMM, and Beep Me), but I'll be thinking of you. If you have any special -ma for little things like 'having to talk to strangers', 'registering in time on the modules you want', and the other irritations of academic life, perhaps you could send a little my way.

I'm not sure when I'll be in touch, but my livejournal (amchau) is the surest place to find me.

A follow-up - my mom is still waiting to hear regarding a new kidney. She got a call this morning and "it is still a possibility". She is supposed to get more news by 10am.

Mom is out of surgery and has a new kidney. YAY! Now the challenge is a speedy recovery and having her body accept the new organ.

Buffista ~ma is an amazing thing. Thanks all!!!!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Jacqueline's water broke at 11:40 last night.

No contractions or labor yet. She's been admitted to the hospital and they'll start giving her pitocin at 6am and start to bring the labor on.

Baby is at 37 weeks, which is a very good plateau to have reached. Pre-term but not premature. The baby's almost six pounds now.

JZ made the baby promise that she wouldn't come on her brother's birthday. And she hasn't. By two days.

Wish JZ some deep sleep tonight, and easy labor tomorrow.

We're gonna have a baby.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Going darkish for the next couple days because of Departmental meeting. Then completely dark for two weeks while on the other side of an ocean.

I expect to start trying to catch up in about 3 weeks. And probably 12,000 posts.
