Spike: You pissed in the Big Man's Chair? That's fantastic! Gunn: Spike, can you please turn off that warm fuzzy? Spike: What, the Lorne thing? Worn off. I just think that's bloody fabulous.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Dallas is home from the vet safe and sound. Her lungs don't show any tumors and we'll have the path results back in a wek.

Thanks for all the ~ma!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I dislocated my shoulder again last night. Any healing-ma would be appreciated.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Requesting some major waft-the-good-vibeage for Chez Grabien.

Nic has a 1 pm interview for a gig he really wants. I want him to have it, too.

Also (deep breath), I have a phone thing at 5 pm SF time today that could result in a major book deal - that's major in the Publishers Weekly sense, defined as anywhere between $100K and $500K.

So, any "Dude! Make it so!" vibes not allocated elsewhere would be highly appreciated.

Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

I do the dance of joy, for I just got a weekly column gig as tv/movie/dvd person for a major new genre website, that I can't say because they haven't finished certain things yet.

That being said, I have been told to put together a wish list of stuff I want, in the form of screeners, review passes, et. al.

If you want in on this discussion, go over to Boxed Set to discuss.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Going dark until at least Weds. while I'm on my road trip (and it's raining again. Yay?). If I can't get caught up by the weekend, I may go dark until after the 4th.

Requesting ~ma...

My best friend in the world, whom I've known since I was 14 and with whom I went through the same high school, college, and grad school, is applying for a position at my new school in LA. She currently lives in Connecticut.

OMGWTF THIS IS THE BEST NEWS EVER.

Please please send massive ~ma to her (and me). I can't tell you what it would mean to me to have her living near me and working with me!!!!

I know this may seem like a petty request given how serious some of the ~ma needs are, but man oh man would this make a difference in both of our lives. She's been stuck in the same po-dunk town for more than thirty years. She and her husband and daughter are so excited about the possibility, and I am over the moon. Meep!

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Somervillians/Bostonians! My friend Randy and his partner are renting the bottom two floors of their victorian (separate unit) in Ashmont Hill, and they are fabulous landlords and great people. I've visited them, and the house is gorgeous. $1800/month for a three bedroom, on the Red Line, which is two blocks from the house. Here's the Craigslist ad:

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

An aquaintance of mine in L.A. just sent me this:

"Monster House" (Spielberg/Zemeckis), the 3D animated Sony picture for which I played the theremin on the soundtrack, will have a special screening Friday, June 30, at the John Anson Ford Ampitheatre in Hollywood. This screening is part of the 12th annual Los Angeles Film Festival.

I have been invited to participate in the screening to do a pre-film performance on the theremin.

According to the Ford Theatre web site, general admission tickets at $10 are available.

The gates open at 5:30 p.m. so people can come early and bring a picnic dinner. I will begin playing at 6:30 and the screening begins at 8:30. So pack a sandwich and a can of soda and come on over! >[link]

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

If anyone is looking for a nice, reasonable, largish 4 bedroom home in the SF Bay Area, my dad is selling his place. Well, I say reasonable. It's actually mindbogglingly expensive, but I think it's pretty reasonable for the Bay Area. If you're interested or know someone who might be, email me at my profile addy, or you can see the listing at [link]
