AnotherAlaskan, who used to post here, just found out that his mother has had a massive heart attack and is not expected to live through tomorrow. He's flying out to LA this afternoon, hoping to get there before she passes. He didn't ask, but I know he would appreciate peaceful passing ~ma for his mom and strength and coping ~ma for himself and the rest of his family.
So there is something I can do, besides scream like a woman?

I'm grey-ish this weekend -- driving to Mom in PA, then up to the Catskills for family reunion-type action. Thank goodness for iPods, Science Friday podcasts, and the fact that my family is mostly worth all the driving!

AnotherAlaskan's mother passed away early this (Sunday) morning. She had been in a deep coma since her heart attak on Tuesday. Thanks to everyone for the ~ma. Continued ~ma for the family would be appreciated.

ChiKat's post about her boss reminded me. I've gotten myself involved with editing a book a friend is putting together about crazy bosses. Anyone have some tales to contribute? Her note below, my profile addy is good for any questions or submissions:

I am gathering a collection of short stories about bizarre work experiences, particularly bizarre bosses (though if you have a particularly insane coworker story, we'll accept those as well). Sorry for the asscaps. There's giddy in the air over here. The title transferred today and we received our keys late this afternoon. We are now proud owners of a 1 and 1/2 floor bungalow, circa 1951. It's got horrid 80s wallpaper and mint green carpet, but underneath are some amazing tiles, gorgeous wood floors, and I've always wanted to try my hand at some painting techniques.
You guys encouraged me in many ways to make this a reality. My thanks again to you all.
I'll likely be dark gray to black from now until Wednesday, April 5th, when I get internet access again.
