I'm off on my trip around the world, as soon as I shut down the computer, put on shoes, and do a last sweep of "dear god, did I forget anything important?"!

So I have no idea when I'll be back online, but think travel-ma for me, and see you in the future!

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Hi

I need to request more apartment~ma

I saw a very nice place, comparable to mine now, for MUCH LESS money. It has an attic, a glassed in sunporch off the kitchen, great woodwork, a nook for my desk area, and I can have cats!

I have to pass a credit check, of which I am not at all confident. I have no one who can cosign unless I ask someone like my friend's brother, which I really sould not do.

Thank you!

"You see? THAT's what they want. Love, and a bit with a dog."

Requesting a little peace~ma if there's any to spare. I just got a call and my cousin is in the hospital and has become unresponsive- he's stopped his dialysis treatments and has given a DNR order. I'm heading up to the hospital now. He has told the family that this is what he wants, and he's been fighting for a very long time, but it's still hard.

If I only had a brain...

We just discovered that somebody had entered our house, taken two knives of my husband, and all my valuable jewelry. It wasn't very valuable, but I loved it; all my rings including my engagement ring and a ring I inherited from my grandmother are gone.

Thanks for all the ~ma, guys. Things went very quickly, and my cousin passed this evening.

Thrive to spite them

I've moved into my new place. Haven't had internet access all weekend. Hopefully will get that tonight.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I haven't been able to say much about this because its a sensitive offices situation, blah de blah.

The law firm I've been working for for over a year recently split into two entities. Despite initial assurances otherwise, its been incredibly acrimonious. The side I've been working for has been demanding more of my time which is something I really can't do. I spoke with the office manager of the other firm (we're all still sharing space -- the tension has been just incredible) and told her "I was hired by Firm A under certain terms. Now that its split into Firm B and Firm C. Firm B can no longer use me as I was hired. If Firm C can we should be able to switch me over with as little disruption to my life as possible."

Well, today my long over due (next week, next week, next week...) year review happened, I said this, I was promptly fired. "I'd really rather this be amicable -- I can give you two weeks notice, train my successor, and be able to answer questions for my successor even afterwards if I'm right over there on the other side of the office." "I'm sure you would. Your job is over. Get out of my office."

It wasn't unforseeable. I have an "interview" with Firm C tonight or tomorrow (they've implied they're fine with the switch and I know they're short staffed). I will likely have no disruption in my insurance or vacation time and in the next day or two I'll likely be back in the same office space at a different desk and avoiding people in the corridors. Nevertheless, having someone stand over my desk while I get my stuff, ludicriously turning in a building ID which will be replaced by the end of the week, and being escorted to the door is less than delighful.

Any delightful~ma that can be spared would be welcomed.
