"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'd like to request health-ma to a friend of mine. She fell down her stairs and woke up in serious pain. She went to the local hospital, and they flew her to Boston (she lives on Nantucket) where they found out she had a broken rib and a punctured spleen. She's supposed to be moving from ICU to a regular room today. I haven't gotten all the details because I got the info I do have from a mutual acquaintance who doesn't know anything more.

Anyone know anything about spleens, by the way? Is that one of the optional organs, or is it required for survival?

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

A request:

Our beloved Persian, Capuccino, is dying of cancer. It's been a slow, horrible process, she's not in pain, but it's been horrible to watch. We decided to let her die at home, surrounded by familiar things, rather than letting our horror at having to watch it happen influence us into having her euthanised, and making her last hours miserable.

An easy death, and soon, would be a good thing. She's skin and bone and has been hanging on for a week with no food. Many of you have met her. She can't be treated - she's nearly fifteen and has a severe heart murmur. At this point, general anesthaesia would kill her and the vet wouldn't even consider it.

Vibeage for a quick out, as painless as possible under the circumstances, is requested.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

To my knowledge, I have never asked for ~ma for myself before. I'm not a ~ma asking person, generally. However, today has been a very very bad day, and I am now in a really difficult situation that juxtaposes a rather large amount of money, a pretty serious family obligation, and my own personal emotional and mental health.

I don't really want to go into details in a big public forum like Beep Me. I would just ask that if you have any positive energy to spare, you send a little this way. I need things to get better. Even just a little.

Thanks.

Are you ready to be strong?

Last night Bob Saget rented a room at the Hard Rock Hotel, of all places, because that very room used to be his office many years ago and is where we first fell in love, one afternoon, when we were talking in there and he put his hand on my knee and we both felt like literally a jolt of electricity and a sudden crush where there hadn't been one before.

He took me up there last night and got down on one knee and said things that made me cry and then gave me the most beautiful ring in the whole entire world.

So we're, like, "officially" engaged now. This probably isn't big news to anyone but me, but give me a break! I rarely post in this thread! Meanies.

As posted in my livejournal.

The Bustle in a House
The morning after death
Is solemnest of industries
Enacted upon Earth --

The Sweeping up the Heart
And putting Love away
We shall not want to use again
Until Eternity.

Goodnight, Chino. May the next body you jump into be robust, longlived, healthy and as beautiful as the one you've just left.

Thanks to all for the help in letting her move with a bit of ease.

Thrive to spite them

I'm sending my computer to be repaired tomorrow and I'm not sure when it will be back. I'll have access to email at work (although I'm trying not to use the internet at work) and at Mom's. I haven't been a terribly active poster lately but I wanted y'all to know.
