"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Nephew update:

James saw the cardiologist again today, and the news is better than it was yesterday. It seems that his left and right ventricals are reversed, but the doctor doesn't feel that it is going to require surgery at this time. He will need one surgery to correct a small hole in his heart, but that is much less invasive of an operation than they originally thought he was going to need.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

An old friends 11 year old son was diagnosed a few weeks ago with a blocked intestine. 10 inches had to be removed. In turned out to be cancer, and he now faces 11 months of chemeotherapy. The doctors say he is one of the most stoic 11 years they have ever seen. In fact the cancer got as far as it did , because he did not want to complain about a little pain.

So recovery ma for Stefan please.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Acting on a gut feeling it's the right thing to do...

I am working on a career change. My skills are heavily in the writing/editing/critical reading/education area since I've taught high school English for the last eight years. I'm nationally certified by NBPTS and have a BA and MA.

I could travel for period of time for work, but I can't move; I have a house in CT with a 91 year old grandmother in residence.

Any ideas? If you hear about anything--even if it's just some small freelance work--please email me at my profile addy.

I know this is the proverbial shot in the dark, but I've decided I need to just keep putting out feelers everywhere and seeing if anything might surface.

ETA: Plus, I just managed to use three cliches in one sentence. Obviously, I'm an original thinker.

Are you ready to be strong?

Um, I've already mentioned this in Music and Natter, so I may as well make a big fucking thing about it. I'm getting married.

In bigger news: still cute.

Up with the sun

My husband's band, The Franchise, is making their public debut tonight at the Grog & Tankard, 2408 Wisconsin Ave., D.C. The showtime is listed on the G&T's web site as 8 p.m., but the music probably won't start until 10-ish, according to Patrick.

I would love to see anyone who feels like coming out.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I'm leaving the frozen North, and heading for the not-quite-so-dark-and-cold Marin County on Dec. 30th for just over a week, and would love to connect with BayArea-istas. I have posted to the Bay Area Buffistas list, but just in case someone is here but not there...

My profile address is good.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Going dark(er) until Tuesday, while DH and I travel to what's left of Sanibel Island to celebrate my grandmother's 85th birthday. It's supposed to be 60 degrees and raining, and the hotel's pool was destroyed by hurricanes and still isn't back in service. Fun fun fun!!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'm going to abuse this thread slightly by saying I'm going dark grey until Monday and also wishing all the Buffistas a massively wonderful holiday season.

New Years I'll get to when it happens (if I survive Xmas).

Hellbound Equal-Opportunity Nookie Hog

Joining in the thread abuse to note that while I'm dealing with the in-laws in Bakersfield and otherwise on vacation, I'll be amongst the darker grey until at least Tuesday, if not after the turn of the calendar.
