Wash: I didn't think you were one for rituals and such. Mal: I'm not, but it'll keep the others busy for a while. No reason to concern them with what's to be done.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Laistas

I feel like going on an outing, so I have 8 tickets for the 7:00 showing on Sunday November 14th of the Incredibles at the El Capitan Theatre, for the first 7 people who contact me saying they want to go.

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

Exam-ma request here - I'll be writing the second Society of Actuaries exam tomorrow morning 8:30 ADT. I'm hoping my back will unlock once it's over.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Bloody hell, THAT was an emotional roller coaster. Wishing all kinds of EverythingStaysPeachy-Ma to Plei and Mini-Plei. Actually tearful about Erika's dog. Damn. So sorry about that. And boy, does MY request for a smidgen of Ma seen silly now. (Yay Jilli, by the way! Yay!)

coughs

Ahem. Whilst hastening to add that this is the least urgent of the -Ma requests around at present, I'd still be grateful for any spare sprinklings of Success-Ma you could will towards my class of 7 year olds, who are going to be performing Rumpelstiltskin tomorrow before the rest of the Primary School and assorted parents. It's only their second chance to use the stage in the hall, and there are already quite a few things stacked against them, but they've been working v. hard and look v. cute. Bless. Fingers crossed.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Um, er, I know everyone is very, very busy and pre-occupied right now, but I'd like to request jobma. I have a phone interview this afternoon, and I'd really like to be gainfully (not just freelance-ly) employed.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Well now that I've come out to my classes, there's no reason for me to keep quiet about it here at b.org.

Frances is going to be a big sister! The bambino is due in late April (which make Plei and I pregnancy twins.) No word yet on whether it's a boy or a girl, but I'll let y'all know once I do know.

Thank you for the jobma, gang! My phone interview went well, and the manager wants to bring me in next week for a f2f interview.

Laistas: As most of you know, Billytea is going to be in town at the end of the month, and as most of you know, that means brunch at my place, on Sunday Nov. 28th, starting at about 11:30. Please let me know if you can make it, and if you need directions etc.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hey Buffistas, my book Lost In The Grooves: Scram's Capricious Guide To The Music You Missed is out. (Though I don't have one in my hands yet.)

Our publisher, Routledge Press, is a bit of an academic publisher, so this is a fairly new foray into the popular press for them.

Our publisher explains here why they need a bit of help with distribution.

In short, I'm asking you to bug your local bookstore to stock the book because Routledge's catalog might not be the first thing they look through when they're ordering new books. Thank you!

Also, I'm going to be on NPR's Talk of the Nation one week from today: 11/11/04. Check your local listings, but from what I understand they tend to be on 3pm EST/Noon PST.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

My new niece, Erin Elizabeth, was born today at approximately 9pm, at 8 lb., 10 oz, which makes her bigger than her brother, but a much easier labor and birth.

I am thankful that mother and baby are happy and healthy, and that this joy comes at a time when our family needed it the most.

(Not that it's all about us - but speaking to my father yesterday- he was devastated. Today, he's ecstatic.)

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Winter Goodies Update

For those who requested either ginger cake or chocolate death bombs, this is letting you know they're being sent out today.

Lemon bread goes out tomorrow.

And thanks to Nora Deirdre, and she knows why.
