Tracy: Well-- That call -- That call means you just murdered me. Mal: No, son. You murdered yourself. I just carried the bullet a while.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Thank you for the jobma, gang! My phone interview went well, and the manager wants to bring me in next week for a f2f interview.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Laistas: As most of you know, Billytea is going to be in town at the end of the month, and as most of you know, that means brunch at my place, on Sunday Nov. 28th, starting at about 11:30. Please let me know if you can make it, and if you need directions etc.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hey Buffistas, my book Lost In The Grooves: Scram's Capricious Guide To The Music You Missed is out. (Though I don't have one in my hands yet.)

Our publisher, Routledge Press, is a bit of an academic publisher, so this is a fairly new foray into the popular press for them.

Our publisher explains here why they need a bit of help with distribution.

In short, I'm asking you to bug your local bookstore to stock the book because Routledge's catalog might not be the first thing they look through when they're ordering new books. Thank you!

Also, I'm going to be on NPR's Talk of the Nation one week from today: 11/11/04. Check your local listings, but from what I understand they tend to be on 3pm EST/Noon PST.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

My new niece, Erin Elizabeth, was born today at approximately 9pm, at 8 lb., 10 oz, which makes her bigger than her brother, but a much easier labor and birth.

I am thankful that mother and baby are happy and healthy, and that this joy comes at a time when our family needed it the most.

(Not that it's all about us - but speaking to my father yesterday- he was devastated. Today, he's ecstatic.)

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Winter Goodies Update

For those who requested either ginger cake or chocolate death bombs, this is letting you know they're being sent out today.

Lemon bread goes out tomorrow.

And thanks to Nora Deirdre, and she knows why.

While I'm at it, requesting some serious concentrated positive energy aimed at Florida.

My buddy and rock and roll partner in crime of 30 plus years, Marlene, has just learned that her oldest child, Abby, 26 and a newlywed, is being biopsied for some suspicious lumps.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's official, my NPR interview scheduled for today got bumped by Yassar Arafat's death.

They still want to do it, however, and will re-schedule probably for either November 22nd (Monday) or the 24th (Wednesday).

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Hey Everybody

(x-posted to her journal and Buffistas/Apocalypse)

Zach here - Juliana had an accident this weekend and wanted me to give everyone a heads up.

Saturday night Juliana fell over the front porch of Pioneer Place Theater up in St. Cloud. she did pretty much a 1 and 1/2 onto the sidewalk. She's got about a dozen stitches in her right eye, and that should heal up this week - she's got a few pretty good black and blue marks and a good chin scrape. She also has ended upwith what could be several acute fractures of the skull near her right eye.

The good news is that there was no neck or spinal injury of any kind. We're very happy that what happened was al that happened. She won't be playing the banjo anytime soon, which doesn't worry me because she never could before. We ended up cancelling our final performance and Juliana and I came back down to the Cities Sunday AM.

She's going to be out of commission for at least a day or two. I will be staying home Monday or Tuesday as well to watch after her. We are going into the doctor in the next few days to make sure her eye is okay, and see if any further surgery is neccesary or not.

To everyone who has offered to help if we need anything - thank you. I may call in one or two of those, depending on how the next couple of days go. But know that she is well enough for now, and we're just really, really thankful it isn't any worse.

If you want to contact me, i'm at zachcurtis at yahoo dot com - i don't know the next time she'll be well enough to sit at the computer and check in - so i will until then.

Thanks, and much love to all.

Zach

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Hey folks - Zach again....

Update #2 Just a little scare, folks - we're good

So, we made a little trip to the ER tonight (and not the sexy sexy nice gel cut hubba hubba tv type), but a good old fashion drunk people and weirdos and a few normals and everyone of them looking at the two of us like "hey, enid, he done whupped the hell outta her" sort of way.

Short story long - Juliana couldn't keep anything down the last 36 hours since the accident and got way too dehydrated. They pumped her full of contact lens solution and now she's better, less nauseated and ready to start her two day clear! liquid! diet! for dehydrated people! (The exclamation points tell you exactly how excited! she is for this).

So, we check with doctors tomorrow and wednesday for follow-ups and what the heck happens now stuff. All is good. She is hungry. And ti-red. And crankypants. But safe and sound and whew and that's all I care.

Z

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Hi folks. I just found out that my Uncle Ed (aka, Mom's baby bro) died about an hour ago. Any ma you could send toward my family -- especially Mom, who adored the big galoot -- would be appreciated.
