February sucks.

Our son ran a high fever for 7 days. This is a virus that is going around, nothing to be done about it. Then he started coughing so hard he threw up. His doctor didn't think he needed to be seen and he seemed to get better, so we sent him back to school. He coughed so hard he threw up again and had to come home early.

Friday morning we took him to the doctor. Two chest rays, several stethoscopes, and a breathing test later, we got the diagnosis. He has asthma. He did a nebulizer at the office and came home with an inhaler and instructions to use it every four hours. We'll go back Monday to talk about what kind of asthma it is; it is possible that it won't be chronic, but was just a disease-triggered episode.

This shit can STOP now. Really. Immediately.

Any vibes that can be spared and sent Baltimore-ward would be much appreciated.

Just talked to Daniel Jensen...thought I'd give an update.

Turns out he does have diabetes, and they do think that is what caused the infection...he probably bumped his shin or something at some point, and it turned into an infection.

He sounded good, though. He was watching Buffy as we talked. Also, he said that he was able to get up and walk around 3 or 4 times today, although, "it hurts like hell." He's already checking his own blood sugarl level and giving himself the insulin shots. He may go home as early as tomorrow, but they may keep him a few more days...he doesn't know yet.

So, you know, I've been having this feeling that the universe really ought to cut the two people at Chez Grabien a dram of slack?

Results from my MRI: First MRI (June 2002) showed 8 distinct lesions on three sections of the brain. Second MRI (September 2002) showed 11 distinct lesions.

December 2003, after one year of Avonex?

One lesion. Period.

I like this stuff.

Some ~ma would be appreciated at around 11:30 AM PST Thursday. I'm meeting with a director down at South Coast Rep to see if we click for the next show. I guess they liked me so much on the children's show I designed that they want to use me on the next show. This one is a main season show, and it's a LORT contract, so it's a big deal.

Also, my Dad is not having surgery on Friday now. He saw his cardiologist and the doc wants him to have a stress test and take a closer look at his high blood pressure before the surgery, so the operation on his leg is being postponed for a few weeks.
