I walk. I talk. I shop, I sneeze. I'm gonna be a fireman when the floods roll back. There's trees in the desert since you moved out. And I don't sleep on a bed of bones.

Our wings are not tired

I don't want to be hogging any ~ma, but...

Apparently dad has a tumor in his leg again. He had one there 7 years ago, and 14 years before that. Both were removed and both were benign and encapsulated so hopefully the trend will continue.

Why is it that I really fucking hate the holidays?

Oh yeah, that's right. THEY FUCKING HATE ME!

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Forgot to mention--I'm in DC for the Thanksgiving holidays. Wish I've been around more, but we saw the National Gallery of Art (and giggled over the acronym it makes), the Mall (which is not the same as a mall), and the American History Museum at the Smithsonian. Needless to say, it is wicked cool.

I hope everyone's having a lovely T-day.

I'm back from England! Soon my body will twig to the fact that it's virtual-1:24 AM for me....

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Interesting job news...

The desk I'm covering this week has been extended into next. I don't know what this means as I thought this was a vacation being covered. I like this place and would love to work here FT. Any -ma would be appreciated.

Requesting a bit of exam-ma for tonight and some general assignment finishing-ma over the next few days. I have my "Information in Society" exam in three hours. My head is filled with all kinds of facts about information and information models. Here's to hoping it all comes out right!

I have two papers due on Monday which are both, well, not done...the next few days are going to be insane-o-rama.

I hope everyone is well! I've been more lurking than anything lately, but I'm trying to stay caught up.

Report from Jeopardy!

Taped an episode of Jeopardy! today--you can catch it March 1. (Check your local times and listings.) I did the Buffistas proud--got only two wrong (including final: Damn you Martina Navritalova!)--and came in second, but brought no shame to the Godwin and/or Buffista family name.

Request for the first of the health-ma for the Hubby for the month. Tomorrow is the 5-year checkup on the colon, where some polyps looked like they were going bad (hanging out in the wrong bars, being sullen to their parents, greasing back their hair--wait, that's "Band Candy". Never mind). In an added feature tomorrow, we're going to his cardiologist for a scan of his heart, which his cardi wants to get done before the colon and the spinal surgery. Yes, more spinal surgery, on Dec. 17. Yes, the date should sound familiar. We're going to the midnight showing of RotK, then straight to the hospital to check in for hte surgery. It's actually glorious timing, because we thought the premiere was 12/19 and he be hospital bound.

Which makes us three-for-three in hospital visits coinciding with LotR premieres. At least this one is pre-planned, and I will show everyone my Eowyn-kicks-ass impersonation if I can't get Hubby a floor-level seat. No fucking stairs this time. Not again.

So, um, spare a thought for me and my Hubby and the hospital staff who have begun to say "What, you again?" when they see me in the waiting room.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

(x-post w/Bitches and Natter)

Due to the fact that my company just announced that all of our San Diego operations will be moving to China and City of Industry by 3rd quarter next year (ie - I'll be getting laid off inside about 6 mos.), I'm going to be back on Buffistas a lot more in the very near future. (My recent dark-grey lurkiness being due to that whole too-much-internet-usage, your-job-may-be-in-jeopardy thing - that threat has substantially less power than it did a week ago. Huh.) So if you've missed me at all, I'll soon be substantially more visible.

Pre-emptive job and job search-ma much appreciated.

Should have gotten it in writing ...

Hubby's in the recovery room after his colonoscopy, the doc finds me in the waiting room: "Everything looks great, he's good for another five years." Your mouth to Goddess' ear, doc. Five years of peace would be very pleasant after the last five years I've had.
