'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Jess PMoon, in Angel (nonspoilery):

Either I have no imagination, or my squickometer's broken. (And er, if it's the former, there's no need to enlighten me.)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I don't remember seeing this in COMM but that hardly seems possible.

In Movies...

Sean: If you watch "Generations" closely...

erikaj: Which I wouldn't. I haven't had a bigger experience of "Wait. That's IT?!" since my first boyfriend.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

erikaj: This Bitch just painted her fingernails black again. And is enjoying the fact that Dr. Perfect Cousin(always Dr., don't you know,) sent us a letter with the wrong "there" in it. It takes so little...

Doll, you get COMMed way more often than I do. It's entirely on merit.

brillig

ita, in Better Board, with a statement that obviously means something to the big brains that manage this board but to this happily context-free Bitch is just a source of great evil amusement

Daniel C. Jensen is evocative in Natter X:

Beauty? Hmmm...

When i was in college, I ran an old run-down campground and resort in Central Minnesota. A campground that was overgrown and a few cabins, it had been semi-closed for a couple of years. We were two miles down a gravel road from the nearest phone. My mom and dad helped me out, mom would help me do the bedsheets from the old repainted trailer houses that comprised the owner's "cabins."

The lake only had two other dwellings, houses on the far side, nestled in among the hills. One was a semi-working farm, the other a residence set back up the hill in trees. Everything was green and the fishermen came in waves. There would be days of quiet, and times of feantic activity.

Sometimes, usually in the autumn lull, as the trees were starting to turn, I would be alone in the campground at night. It was times like these that I could turn off the security lights in the campground, unplug the pop machine, and let my eyes adjust.

In Central Minnesota, far enough out of the mainstream, there is no city glow. Once my eyes adjusted, I would walk down the dirt road to the docks, starlight my only illumination. I would approach the clearing by the shore and my feet would crunch on the early fallen leaves.

Stepping onto the longest dock, I would kick off my flipflops and walk out to the end. Above the treeline around me, there would be stars. I would lay down on the dock, sometimes dipping my feet down into the lake, but then settling down to look up at the stars.

Billions of stars.

More stars than one could ever believe existed, they seemed to go on forever. It was like I was alone in the universe, but surrounded by it, a part of it.

Beauty.
