You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Cashmere, you've misspelled Kathy Astrom.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Thanks, DX. I do seem to suck at the spelling lately.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

wolfram in Firefly (non-spoilery for anything but scheduling)

Secret message to FBC network executives:

its Firefly can How to sense fucking order any fucking out when you make expect of?

[I left out the translation just to be contrary.]

"We have trust issues." Mylar

Allyson channeling Dr. Seuss to describe the allure (or lack thereof) or TTT:

I don't get it. I don't get the Lord of the Rings Thing. I don't get it in the thread, I don't get it painted red. I don't get it in the book, I don't get it when I cook. I don't get the one true ring, I don't get the TTT Thing.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

In Bureaucracy, a beutiful segue (and let me point out that the second poster did indeed quote the first):

Allyson: Then can we have a thread where we talk about anything that doesn't include movies about girly looking man-trolls with hairy feet?

Darrien: Did you guys have a thread when DB did that movie, Valentine?

Rebecca Lizard, in LOTR, on her family cinematic experience:

My mother: What was that, the Dobby one?
Me: Gollum?
My mother: Yeah. He was cute. Can we get one? Only they seem sort of treacherous, but so are the guinea pigs, so we're used to that.

If I only had a brain...

John H., clarifying The Two Towers;

in case you're confused:

  • There's just one Gollum. Really.
  • Faramir and Boromir, despite being brothers, were separated at birth, and went to live in Yorkshireador and Australiador, so that's why they talk so differently.
  • The guy on the winged lamprey of doom isn't that smart. He's all "well, hobbit with a ring, yeah, but what are the chances that was the Hobbit with the ring? I won't mention it to Sauron".
  • Aragorn only kissed his horse because he thought it was Arwen. Honestly.

Hope this helps.

there is something to be said for the lyric and imperial attitude / believe that everything is for you until you discover that you are for it

From Bureaucracy:

Trudy Booth: I'd imagine we could walk the line between "Henry Kissinger is a war criminal" and "YOU are a war criminal".

billytea Hmmm. If Henry Kissinger himself starts posting on these boards, that could leave us in a quandary.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

billytea Hmmm. If Henry Kissinger himself starts posting on these boards, that could leave us in a quandary.

This is more amusing now than it was before...
