Thanks again for all the ~ma. It is powerful stuff. Our friend was gradually brought up out of the artificial coma from Tuesday. It transpired he had most of his memories (with some confusion) and the use of all of his limbs. He was doing so well that he was moved out of intensive care yesterday.
So it really was the best possible outcome. Much relief all round, and fingers crossed for the rest of his recovery.
Oh, what a relief! I'm so glad to hear it, Fiona. Thanks for letting us know how he's doing.
Just a request that you'll read and boost the signal on my post in Press. Thanks, UnAms.

SRSLY! NOT EVEN KIDDING, NO NATTER!!!?!?!?!? The END IS NIGH....
keeps running
Did anybody else watch "Holy Flying Circus" last night?
I thought that it was quite amusing that they were aiming for the same irreverent, surrealist-tinged tone that the Pythons managed so well but that it often came over as rather forced. Just goes to show how hard it is to pull that off; the Pythons made it all look too easy.
But the performances were incredible. The actors really inhabited their characters. The ones who didn't really look like the Pythons (Gilliam and Idle) had the voices down perfectly, and they all really captured their essence. Palin, Cleese and Jones were scary-perfect.
Hopefully BBCA will pick that up at some point.
Skipping (sigh, even in this thread?) because, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is Fiona's birthday.
Happy birthday, Fiona! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!
Thank you, Nilly and Shir - good to "see" you both!
My new year starts with a stonking cold and a headache, so it can only improve from here on in. Fingers crossed.
