"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Emmett's 13, and Matilda is 3. (She's also three feet fall and almost 30 pounds.)

Emmett starts high school next year. Matilda starts pre-school on Monday.

"When the world's run by fools it's the duty of intelligence to disobey." Martin Firrell

hate to sound dim-witted (blame the champers, at least it's good stuff) but when you say high school next year do you mean 2010 or 2011 and to satisfy the teacher in me what grade is that, is that what they call 'freshman' year? How do you feel dad, having a kid going into high school?

And more importantly, you say he's a solid muscley mass of krav maga action, but can he take down ita?

sorry to everyone else for hijacking the thread but I have a bit of catching up to do.

He starts 9th grade in September of 2011. I feel good about it. He's had a very good 8th grade year (so far) after a tough 7th grade. It's almost time to start thinking about college. He and Matilda dote on each other and any time I turn my back on them there's a high likelihood that I'll hear giggling from both of them.

And more importantly, you say he's a solid muscley mass of krav maga action, but can he take down ita?

Oh, no. But for his age group I think he's getting formidable. He's not as quick as he could be, but he generates a lot of power from a strong base. Even wrestling with him now I have to use my full weight to take him down and I've got 80 pounds on him.

If he's in 8th grade now, then he'll start 9th in Sept. 2010. t mathy pedant

Oops, as Jon notes.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Little bit.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart
