This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I don't know anything about Quebecois, but I believe there are some tense differences in Cajun French.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

You might try pinging megan walker about this -- granted, her French is actual France French, but she is deeply fluent, well-traveled, knows people from practically everywhere on the planet, and works for a textbook publisher, so even if it falls outside her own French genius she might at least know where some good resources are.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yeah, Cajun French has some different stuff going on with conjugation, but I couldn't really explain what was different, just that it wasn't the way I learned it.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

So, do any of our UKers watch Skins at all?

Tell me somebody does.... It's excellent.

I would... but I don't get C4 (long story).

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Bloody hell, London. How can you have elected Boris Johnson as mayor?

eta for benefit of un-un-Americans: afaik, he's what you'd get if you crossed George Bush with Lucius Malfoy. Famous for his dishevelled, hearty, hail-fellow-well-met public school boy manners, for his blonder-than-blond chaos of hair, for appearing on the TV show Have I Got News For You in the capacity of editor of the v. right wing Spectator newspaper, for comparing gay marriage to bestiality, and for referring to Africans as 'Piccaninnies with watermelon smiles'.

Yep. One of our best and brightest all right. Apparently he's apologised for the piccaninnies with watermelon smiles thing, and assured everyone that he hates racism. So that must be okay then.

sinks head in hands.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

So, I don't suppose any UK-type people would be willing to go check out the closest Miss Selfridge store to them and see if this jacket is available in a size 14? [link]

Or, as an even longer shot, keep an eye open at thrift or charity shops in case one of these jackets turns up in a size 14? [link]

Anybody else watching the first Eurovision semi-final? So far, Montenegro and Israel have had very good looking young men.

Azerbaijan has gay angels! And a goth boy! I love the Eurovision!

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Hello, another thread which I didn't visit/post in yet! Since I mostly post in Natter and Music, I feel like I should be introducing myself again. So, I'm Shir, I'm here because of Nilly, and I joined a few weeks (months?) ago. Hey all.

This is a shout-out for information from you guys. And I really hope it's the right place to ask for it, for I mostly need it from unAmercians guys.

I'm a volunteer of Adva Center and right now I'm helping gather information regarding medical treatment and nursing services for the elderly in other countries, mostly in Europe (but not only there) as a background material for a position paper that will eventually get published and send to the government, following some changes that have been suggested in the Israeli elderly care policy.

And this is where I need your help. I may gather every last byte from the the internet, but it won't help me to understand the situation in other countries. I have to combine the data I've been collecting and the everyday life and what happens in practice. And for that, I need your help.

I would appreciate any story, fact, thought, clarification or information you'll be able to share regarding elderly care in your/other country. In order not to get this thread spinning into another dimension of OT, you can email me at my profile addy.

Thanks!
