Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Has anyone seen a commercial for Cadbury Favourites, that has a lad standing in the middle of a salt pan, suddenly being confronted by hundreds of people wanting one of his lollies? It's been around for a couple of years at least and they've just started showing it again.

I've probably been sucking on the crack pipe too much but I'm convinced the lad is Thomas "Andrew" Lenk. At the very least, the actor resembles him.

To every idea a shelf...

I'm fairly sure it actually is Tom Lenk. So if you're smoking crack it is the Crack of Unexpected Correctness.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Salt pan? Lollies? You Brits.

Okay, I know what a lolly is, of course, but what's a salt pan?

Heh. Emlah and jimi are Aussies, and I remember seeing that commercial when I was in Australia. It's definitely Tom Lenk.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

what's a salt pan?

wikipedia entry: [link]

"Salt pan" is the proper geological term, but Americans usually call them salt flats -- like the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, where they do the land speed records. Remember the first part of "Buckaroo Banzai"?

woohoo! Three cheers for the Crack of Unexpected Correctness!

Actually, over here a "salt pan" is a really big saucepan for turning salt into diamonds.

Emlah ... did you catch Carnivale?

I missed the first 20 minutes but a dear friend filled me in on what I missed. The first season is available on DVD in the States, so hopefully it'll get here fairly quickly. Unfortunately, my reception of the ABC is pretty crappy, so I missed some of the more subtle visual details (hence my hope-age on a speedy release of the DVDs) but got more than enough to be thoroughly engaged by the style and the story. Cannot wait for next week's episode!

I had trouble watching it properly as well, the tape I used must have been too old because it was all jumpy and the audio was crap. But I was still very impressed. Unfortunately I read some spoilers back when I thought it would never air here, but not too many, so I'm sure there are still heaps of surprises in store. And I think it's cool that ABC is airing it in 2 hour blocks.
