I'm glad Port Adelaide won too. All else being equal, I will support whichever team does not contain Jason Akermanis.
Is that due to a general hatred of a wanker, or for a particular reason?
I'm not much of a footy fan, so I don't know much about any of the players. My support for Port was made with grinding teeth and comes simply from them being "hometown". On an ordinary day, my upbringing as a Central's fan makes me despise them. :)
A couple of comments in the online (Qld) Sunday Mail amused me:
"The loss means the South Australian flag will fly above Queensland Parliament this week, thanks to a bet between Premier Peter Beattie and his South Australian counterpart Mike Rann."
and let's hope this is an omen for the election:
Mr Latham had tipped a Port Adelaide win; the Prime Minister had hoped both he and the Lions would make it four in a row.
I have The Primary Phase and The Secondary Phase on Audio CD, released in 1996 and purchased about 1998, and these are definitely the same as the radio broadcasts.
Whoo-hoo! I bought these this year from amazon.co.uk.

I can't say I know the feller, but I mistook him for the mayor of Wank City.
He is without a doubt the least likeable person playing in the AFL today. (Since the retirement of Wayne Carey.) Just an insupportable showoff, and the trouble is he rarely suffers the bitter penalties of hubris because his team always wins! Hence, yesterday v. enjoyable.
Oh no, the Invisible Man killed River!
Just noticed a flash ad on tv.zap2it.com. McLeod's Daughters makes its US debuts on the WE channel this Saturday Oct 2.
The show isn't my cup o' tea but it excites me to see an Aussie show on US television (albeit a small[?] cable channel). Especially since it's filmed just outside of Gawler, which is about 35 miles from Adelaide, and not in an eastern state.
ETA: Just
had
to email the site and correct an error on their "Aussie Slang Dictionary". They have:
"Nappie - Short for napkin",
which is a tad incorrect. A "Nappie" is actually the Aussie term for a "Diaper". :)
Well, it's still short for "napkin" jimi, just not the dinner table kind.

Watch out Hugh and Russell, here comes ...
Mel Brooks's comment in a Playbill interview that he would like Australian comic Bert Newton to appear in his movie version of The Producers musical has raised questions about whether -- as previously announced -- Will Ferrell will appear in the movie. In the recent interview, Brooks remarked, "An Australian chap named Bert Newton plays Franz Liebkind in the show Down Under and he gives the best performance of that role I've ever seen, frankly. ... I'd love Newton to be involved." However, Ferrell was reportedly in talks to play the role of Liebkind, the writer of "the worst musical ever written," and Brooks had announced that he planned to expand the role for him. Asked about Brooks's comments Thursday, Newton replied only, "Well, it's the first I've heard of it, and what a thrill." In Brooks's original 1969 movie, Liebkind was played by Kenneth Mars, who later appeared in Brooks's Young Frankenstein. On Broadway, the character was played by Brad Oscar, who received a Tony nomination for his performance.
... Bert Newton?
