Jayne: That's a good idea. Good idea. Tell us where the stuff's at so I can shoot you. Mal: Point of interest? Offering to shoot us might not work so well as an incentive as you might imagine.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Ooops. Hadn't noticed Angus's spelling. Spelling it the 'American' way does strike me as odd.

Roguish Laird

I believe it was a brief historical flirtation with American spelling that also gave us Victor Harbor (in South Australia) and a couple of other examples that I've forgotten.

The other famous example of Australia following America rather than Britain was adopting the dollar (to replace the pound) when we went decimal.

There was also that thing where we took part in the Vietnam War, but we try to forget about that whenever possible.

Meanwhile in America, the historical apologists are still trying to spin the Vietnam War such that they can blame the Democrats for losing it -- this in spite of the fact that quite a great deal of the actual losing and retreating and fucking over allies was during Republican admins.

No other candidate is asking the hard questions, like "Did geophysicists assassinate Jim Henson?" or "Why is there hydrogen in America's water supply?" --defective yeti

They're running the risk of offending Democratic voters. They really ought to spin things the Australians' way.

I'm still lobbying for this to be called "The American War"...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Maybe I called in a few favours, sold a few firstborn.

And it was worth it.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

ita, I thank you for selling your firstborn. Or whoever the fuck's firstborn you sold.

I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

Anyone just hear I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue? 'You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin' to the tune of 'John Brown's Body' was a classic!

I didn't hear it, but I used to love that show, and now it occurs to me I could actually listen to it over the internet, couldn't I? Does Radio Four stream everything? Could I listen to The Archers if I wanted?
