Well, you would have been about 2 at the time I imagine Leigh, so you're forgiven.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

The show itself never scared me - except for the theme music, which I found absolutely terrifying. No idea why.

They really, really need to re-show the Goodies over here. I missed them, and I'd love to have a chance to catch up.

The problem with a lot of these shows is that you tend to remember them with lashings of nostalgia, and edit out all the bad and/or boring bits in your mind. I've had quite a few letdowns rewatching programmes which I adored as a child, but which revealed themselves as nothing particularly special in the harsh light of discerning adulthood. Which is a roundabout way of saying: don't expect too much, Am-Chau.

(Most recent example: Thunderbirds, which was my favourite show for a while. I tried to watch an episode the other week and just couldn't. Worst. American. Accents. Ever. Still looking forward to the movie, though).

Heh. Thanks for the warning. It would still be nice to have the chance to be disappointed, though.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Angus ... agreed but unfortunately, one of the commercial stations bought the replay rights to The Goodies a few years back. I think it was 7 and around the same time they got the rights for the Young Ones.

There is a 2 disc DVD of Goodies episodes about to be released.

Huh. Maybe I was thinking of The Goonies, which is a horrendous movie my 9th grade English teacher made us watch over and over for some still mystifying reason.
