Mal: So we run. Nandi: I understand, Captain Reynolds. You have your people to think of, same as me. And this ain't your fight. Mal: Don't believe you do understand, Nandi. I said 'we run'. We.

`He combed his hair, Put on a shirt that his mother made, And he went on the air...'

A truckload of Devon fic, eh, Fay? Wonders will never cease. So I suppose there's Jesse yarns out there too. And Larry fic. I really liked Larry. His coming out scene with Xander was cool. Then he was one of the whitehats in The Wish, which I just watched last night with my son, who couldn't figure out why Willow and Xander were behaving so badly in it. I tried to explain that this was just a pretend story about a different reality but then realised I was making it sound like normal Buffy stuff was actually real. Then I got confused...

Imagine trying to explain the multi-layer 'reality' of Andrew's little documentary earlier this season. I love that episode so much I wish it was a living thing so I could hug it.

Not so much. Devon shows up in a lot of fic as the Ultimate Man Slut. Dead Gay Larry occasionally pops up, and I've seen one or two Jesse-centric stories. A quick check at the BfA will show the disproportionate amount of Devon fic out there.

Always Anti-fascist!

Maybe because he's kind of a blank screen?

Maybe it helps that he's associated with Oz?

I just had what must be an extremely common fanfic experience. The description said Devon/Host pairing. I thought: 'No way that can work.' I read it, and it totally worked.

Maybe because he's kind of a blank screen?

Based on this one story, I'd say this could be part of the reason. The author gave him divorced parents, anger at the world and bisexuality, none of which are textual as far as I can remember.

See, there are so many blank slate characters that don't pull that kind of attention.

Somewhere out there, there should be an essay on Devon in Fanon.
