Ah, yes, of course. The gypsies, they gave you your soul. The gypsies are filthy people. Ptui! We shall speak of them no more.

`He combed his hair, Put on a shirt that his mother made, And he went on the air...'

Soderbergh -- bring me Traffic and Sex, Lies and Videotape -- two of my best of all time movies.

Have mixed feelings about commentaries and all the appurtenances of fandom, maybe because I'm new to the condition. On the one hand I lap it up, I want to know everything. On the other hand I want to be innocent of interpretation by others -- just want to watch it and experience it as it is, without being told where the seams are and what the recipe was. Just the way studying a novel or a poem at school can ruin it for you.

I can see my bank balance plunging further, but all in a good cause -- my season 6 DVDs have just arrived at the bookshop, all ready for me to flash my credit card. Wonder what extra goodies are on those.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

OMG! I haven't watched the commentary yet. Is it good?

I mean, I watch the movie once a month or so.

To every idea a shelf...

Best DVD commentary ever = Dude, Where's My Car?

Hee! And they keep talking about how this or that was an 'improv' moment.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I haven't heard the Dude one, but my current favourite is Can't Hardly Wait, or whatever one had Seth Green and his English accent. It also had the effect of making a film I enjoyed seem like it'd have been even better, if the directors had gotten more of their way. Enough that I want to see other stuff they might do.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Can't Hardly Wait was Seth as the whitest white boy in the history of everything.

If there really is a movie where he has an English accent, I need to see it and then die, because everything after that would be a disappointment.

Seth Green. English accent. Guh.

It's in the commentary for CHW, Holli. It's absolutely hysterical.
