Milk bars (in britain) were alcohol-free bar hangouts for kids. much like Soda counters in 50s Americana. They turn up in Clockwork Orange, too.

I think the next UnAmerican thread should be named something regarding foods from around the world.
For some reason, I'm now thinking: "UnAmericans 2: It's a Yam Sham".
I'm inordinately fond of the yam-sham line.
You still have Milk Bars?
Not that many, they're all being replaced by 7-11s. (To much gnashing of teeth, but the truth is that Milk Bars were usually crap anyway, and 7-11s are great, so I'm not complaining. Only difference is that a 7-11 won't make you a fresh sandwich or milkshake.)
t edit And from Jim's description Australian milk bars are a bit more basic and less groovy than UK ones.
a-hem. The title "Are you now or have you ever been: UnAmerican Buffistas 2" has been agreed by consensus, waaay back.
Moscow's full of Milk Bars too. And they have great milk.
Heh. Yes, I like that one (although an axis of evil riff might be good too).
Ahem.
Notice how it's the blokes who are cheeking us about Nigel H. Are there are any women out there with the same issue?
Mind you, I've no earthly clue what that fact signifies, but still.
(ducking off because it's Buffynight and there's cookery to achieve)

That's true, actually. I'd propose for 3, but we're less than halfway through this one.

Not me. He's a bit of yum.
OK, is there anyone who fancies Havers who's seen Anthony Andrews in Brideshead ? And if so, how are you not thinking "oh, that's what Havers is so signally failing to pull off!"
