Mexico's invasion will end when they hit winter, and they realize it's much better to be down south in January. We're like Russia that way.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Just popping in to let the Canadians know that next time Mexico wants to invade you we ain't stoppin em ANY MORE.

My dad came home the other night and was making noise about "see if we keep protecting you now, Canada." I pointed out that Canada isn't exactly in any danger and he responded "they will be if we're protecting them!"

Numberslut!

Also, I've been trawling for Firefly in the UK stuff, and while not specific, this is interesting for general US-shows-in-the-UK stuff.

I like Boomtown a lot. It disappeared off Canadian tv for a while after Christmas, so I thought it had been cancelled, but it's back with avengence now.

Roguish Laird

I quite enjoy Boomtown, but the other night they had this absolutely dire episode where Fearless kept having hallucinations of this friend whose life he'd failed to save in (I presume) the Gulf War (the first one, obv.), who kept popping up to remind him that life was worth living, never put off until tomorrow what you can do today, etc. etc., and even worse, his appearances were introduced each time by a soulful, bluesy trumpet motif. I wanted to throw up. For all its alleged innovativeness, it can be a really hacky show.

Thrive to spite them

Boomtown was on hiatus for much of the winter when NBC ran the miniseries Kingpin. We just had two new episodes.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, this is true. But I find when the hackiness gets too high, the acting and the relationships between the characters pull me through. And god knows there's not a lot of competition on TV these days for programs that actually require a little thought.
