Wow, you've really mastered the power of positive giving-up.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

And I love Cake, too, especially "I Will Survive."

I like their version of "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps."

What? That's on topic.

Nobody

Just checking in with the Un-Americans after that horrid attack in Bali. I know there were a lot of Antipodean victims and some Brit, other European and even American victims, as well. I hope and pray you and your loved ones are safe.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Cindy... Min had some friends injured but they are stable and have been evacuated.

Thanks Cindy, it has been very big on the news here, and affected a lot of families.

I somehow managed to go a whole day without hearing the news--that's being on holiday for you. Geez, what a shock. I know plenty of people who are o/s at the moment, but I'm pretty sure none of them are in Bali, thank God.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Guh. Just found out my sister's BF knew some of the people killed. One of them, he says, they only found his shoes.

The world is a tiny place.

Is that Narrative Causality or Historical Imperative or just plain weird?

Argh, ita love. Hugs and sympathy for your sister and her BF, his friends, and their families.

Trudy, thanks for responding to Cindy here, I should have thought to myself, but not so much with the logic yesterday.

Morbid stats department: 30 Australians are now confirmed dead, 180 are still missing, and 130 injured. I'm pissed because those numbers are all I've been hearing today, and there's barely any mention of the other countries that suffered losses. Grr.

In less teeth grinding news, my friends are conscious and doing fairly well! After some initial surgery to remove shrapnel they were transported to a hospital here, so their families are nearby. My precious boy has burns to 30% of his body, and he is the major worry right now. His girlfriend has burns to 15% of her body, and they aren't as severe, but she fared worse with the shrapnel. They'll both be undergoing further surgery in the coming days and weeks. t reads previous Ok, it doesn't sound great, and heaven knows they've got a long way to go, but they're responding well to treatment, they're stable, and they're alive, so I'm ticking the Woo Hoo column.

Swouncing

ita, I'm so sorry.

{{Min}} It does look like the better news. I hope you're at least somewhat better yourself.
