You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Well, no, what I meant is that aren't there endless arguments that the wind knocked the wicket down, or that Mack truck rumbling by, or a butterfly landed on it, etc.?

Er, no. The stumps have grooves across the top in which the bails rest. They don't fall down on their own.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Especially considering what a good job Americans are doing with the British accents.

points at JM and AD.

Emma and Bob both did great American accents though. So does Gary Oldman.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The other way around--well, Bob Hoskins in ROGER RABBIT and Kenneth and Emma in DEAD AGAIN were pretty good.

There are actually a lot of Brits (and Irish) that do great American accents. Colin Farrell's is good, Minnie Driver, Tim Roth, Helena Bonham Carter come first to mind, and I have a teeny suspicion that Monty Python was taking the piss. Can't speak for offscreen accents, 'cause I don't watch much theatre. But onscreen? US doing UK? It's not all Robin Hood, but still.

Love JM, I do, but his accent is flaky.

I rarely notice if someone is doing a bad USian accent.

I don't think Mel Gibson can do a convincing American accent...

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

AD actually is one of the few times I noticed a bad USian accent attempt. FWIW.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Glenn Quinn.

And here I thought Minnie Driver was doing an atrocious Brit accent on Will and Grace a few weeks back. Fake or not, it was painful to listen to and sounded very affected.

But JM's UK accent is better than his US one. What the hell is that?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Bad American accents tend to have too much R.

Exactly my point.
