Mmmmm, brushfires.

OK, then, just me.

Frail my heart apart and play me a little Shady Grove

Hey, all the cool kids do hang out here!

Do I qualify as UnAmerican? I refused to stand up at the music festival when Stephen Bennett play "America." Or does that just make me "not a sheep?"

Are you ready to be strong?

I was not born in America! Does that count?!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Great. Wanna-foreign-bes.

Too little, too late.

You still flunk the residency requirement.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I vote not a sheep. I don't know why stuff like that makes me uncomfortable. It just seems like such a staged thing.

Now at the Cake concert the night of Sept 13, 2001, the lead singer said that they usually end their concerts on a downer, but that nobody really needed that so they played "I Will Survive." Didn't feel staged when everybody had their arms around each other and started chanting after not for the band to do an encore, but for the country to recover.

Cool. It's a fine line between the heartfelt and the forced, and makes a world of difference.
