Um, can anyone tell me about the books I read years ago, about a thief who was very charismatic and said "thicky" and stuff like that? He was some kind of English.

I once stayed in Whitehorse for a week when I was about 7. We were moving from Alaska to Oregon via the AlCan highway and Dad wrecked the van. We stayed with very nice people we'd never met before who let us help them make their Christmas decorations. I learned how to do little diorama things out of eggshell.
What? Is nobody else from Northern Canada?
I have a Bella Coola t-shirt somewhere... does that count?
My sister-in-law lived in Whitehorse for a year when she was in grade 12, I think.
I've been as far north as Prince Rupert on vacation, but that's about it.
Oh, look, I haven't posted in this thread before. Huh. Well, I am UnAmerican so I guess that's okay.
Ooo! I think my uncle died in Bella Coola!
But, you know, most of the relations are from the Interior or the Island.
I am not an UnAmerican, but I played one in a play. A german one, living in Halifax. Does that count? I probably had a horrible accent, but maybe not, because they found a German woman who lived in Canada. She said all the lines for me, and I just said them like that. (This is NOT the right way to learn an accent, boys and girls!)
Hi, my name is Deena and I'm a faux unamerican.
Will go back to lurking this thread now.

Um. Sure!
To hear a stunningly bad Nova Scotian accent, watch Deeply. Kirsten Dunst's accent coach must have studied at the same place as Kendra's. The accent was considerably less like a Maritime accent than Dunst's real accent. It sounded mostly like a bad southern accent (southern U.S., that is). To top it off, her character's name was "Silly".
Her accent was like her name.

Penny, I think there was someone who's de-lurked recently from Whitehorse. Or maybe it was Yellowknife.
