Are you going to give us a recipe.
I'm just using Good Eats' recipe this year, although it's pretty freakin' task-intensive. [link]

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Thanks Dana, and Emily. I would have recognized Tatooine.
Gah, my geek cred is so low.
eta...
Thanks, bon bon.
Wow. That does look labor intensive.
Say, anybody remember the conversation we had about elementary school teachers who tell their students that you "can't" subtract a bigger number from a smaller one, and how betrayed some people felt by that? The textbook we're using tells me that "Negative numbers have no square roots." Now, eighth graders don't need to know about imaginary numbers -- they're certainly not going to see them this year, and maybe not ever. But to completely deny them like that... for shame, McDougal Littell!
Why don't I have cookies?
Why do I have a stomach ache?
Ugh. What's wrong with, "The square root of a negative number is called an imaginary number. In this section, we will only deal with square roots of non-negative numbers."

Aw, Karen and Bill, sittin' in a tree...
TOOKIES!
Why don't I have 24 yet?
Math is just too rich and fabulous for their little brains. We lie to them to protect them...from, among other things, an early fascination with the impossible as rendered by formal systems.
The Science of Discworld authors label that kind of math teaching "lies for children", because you have to dumb knowledge down into more-easily digested chunks until the facts as presented are pretty inaccurate. If you are smart, you leave enough wiggle room that when you come back to it later, you can expand on what you said in previous grades without too much backtracking.
24: For someone who didn't watch last season, can anyone tell me if Chloe's boyfriend is on the up and up? Because he's coming across as a total user bad guy to me.
ION, Keifer's voice! I have missed it.
