And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Anybody have a (pref free) financial management software tool for Mac they love? My old version of Quicken (2004, I think) won't run on my new laptop, and the migration to the new Quicken Financial Life beta was a complete bust. (They offer a free data conversion tool...which is also in beta and explicitly unsupported. This tool also utterly fails to WORK. Blech.)

So I'm open to suggestions. I'd prefer something free and able to convert Quicken 2004 data files.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

DXMachina suggested GnuCash last year. I downloaded it but never got around to playing with it.

Looks like it does work on a Mac: [link]

Jessica,

I use Ibank, which I like. It is not free.

I like the concept of Mint, but (a) I'm still leery of keeping all my financial info online, and (b) I keep thinking it would be a good idea to try one of those things and then going "oh please, would I really keep it up??"

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I love Mint. There's really not a lot of upkeep to it, and it is neat (if sometimes painful) to see how things break out over time.

OK, trying to help a friend set up a LJ account, and for the life of me, I'm confused. It appears I can only get the friends page to show the 10 most recent posts to the groups she has subscribed to. My personal LJ there is a "previous x posts" to click, to go back a page in time. I can't find where to enable that option for her. Most frustrating. Any ideas?

in the meantime, I'll keep digging through LJ.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Change to a different style?

ya, that's what I ended up doing. I copied the s1 settings I have on mine. Oh well. I thought all the styles had that feature.
