Eh, I have Comcast (the triple play--modem, phone, and cable, which has worked out since I need the phone and included long distance to work from home!) and it's been fine, other than that the guys who installed it had no idea how to set it up with my TiVo, so for the longest time I had it set up the way I'd figured it out, which...didn't really work great.
Luckily, my girl's best friend used to work for them, and was over, and knew how to fix it up, and now it's all awesomeness!
Um, and when the year intro rate was over, it was more expensive and I had to call them and badger them into lowering it.
But really, since I need all three it was the best deal, and I haven't had any issues.
Ooooh, so can you remember the steps to get Tivo working correctly? I might need your coaching when the time comes.
I've pretty much decided on Comcast, though I am seriously bummed that, at least in Oakland, the Speed Channel and MLB network aren't part of the line-up. I am praying that they are, but the website hasn't been updated yet. I gotta have Speed!!
Heh. I'd have to look at the back of my TiVo and cable box to find out, java--she went back there and fiddled with it and fixed it all up, but I could look at it and let you know, assuming you end up with a box.
Oh, Java, I no longer live next to a race track. Now you'll never come visit! Speaking of MLB, I just might order that this summer, as I have almost NO shows from May until October! Funny how that lines up perfectly with Baseball season. I hope it's not too expensive.
Another stupid question that I'm sure everyone knows about--I'm now trying to download itunes to my new laptop, and the itunes page says that the download is free. However, when I get to page two of the procedure, it says I have to sign up for a membership fee with three options for monthly fees. What's up with that, and is there something else I can use for free that will let me convert my cds into downloadable format as well as buy tunes online?
ETA: Nevermind! Got it figured out.
My Cablevision HD Tifaux can't get a signal. So I'll be at home tomorrow morning waiting for the cable guy. On the plus side, maybe he can take my old box away with him and save me the trouble of mailing it back.
Since I'd already disconnected the Tivo from the old box, we had to watch LIVE TV last night. (In SD, since I couldn't make the HD box work.) It was pretty traumatic.
Okay, my nano and itunes are driving me mad.
I'm trying to get it to synch the bsg webisodes but it won't load the damn things and it keeps disconnecting before I can do anything.
What can I do so that I can ask the ipod to sync the tv shows I pick?
I used to be able to do that but when I connected it this morning it asked me to restore the ipod first so I did and now it's driving me mad.
Have you tried switching to managing your iPod manually and dragging and dropping?
Also, for whatever reason, I used to have problems loading audio podcasts onto my iPod, I found if I deleted the podcast from iTunes and downloaded it again, it would then transfer to my iPod. I don't know why it worked, but it did.
It keeps on ejecting my nano before I can do that - it will automatically sync and then automatically eject.
That's why it's frustrating me.
