The problem is, I love having a DVD burner in my current TiVo. It's perfect if I want to give someone a copy of a show, or burn something to take on a trip and watch on my laptop....
I suppose if I were truly super fancy, I'd have slingbox. :)
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

I want to get my mum an MP3 player for her birthday and only have personal experience with iPod. I've heard of Zune, but don't know what else is out there or what would be the most simple device to use to a technologically challenged woman. Any suggestions?
Firefox just upgraded me to Firefox 3, beta 5.
I haven't upgraded. I am always wary of the upgrade. I remember upgrading my window media player, and losing the ability to listen to internet radio. I tried to uninstall the new version and put the old one back on, but it wouldn't let me.
I upgraded, too. We'll see if it crashes less for me.
Firefox, Beta 5:
I'm missing my home icon. It was taken away in earlier betas, relegated to a personal toolbar item, now they removed the toolbar item.
I had to drag my homepage link to my personal toolbar. I can rename it "home" but still? I'm not sure why they decided I don't need it.
There must be a setting, somewhere...
It's still in my bookmarks bar...
From what I can tell, Jon (cursory examination only), the more recent version of Thunderbird can achieve deletion from the POP server if you have it set to delete from server when you move messages out of your inbox (not just to trash--to any other folder)--but then you can't keep it in your inbox folder on your local machine.
I'm going to keep looking. It's frustrating to have it be a filter option, but not an option you can exercise using the menu.
Thanks for checking, ita! Sadly, that still doesn't meet my needs.
I might be able to make that work, but I will keep poking around.
