Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

So by default there's nothing free to compress in Windows, right?
Huh? XP has built in zip compression utilities. Right click --> Send to --> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
Indeed. Although I have run into XP mchines where this is not an option. I wonder if it was a SP1 thing?
Or maybe XP Pro/XP Home?
It's an option that can be turned on and off. [link]
Dumb question. My school linksys isn't letting me log onto my personal network. What's the IP address you use to find settings, again?
192.168.1.1
Thanks, Jessica. Hm. Do I have to put www first? It's not connecting for some reason.
Hm, no idea. You shouldn't have to put www in front of a local IP address, though.
You might also try 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.0 -- the first two signify the local network, but I've seen the last two vary from one router manufacturer to another.
