Shift-Command-4 will let you select a portion of the screen to grab. I think to print the full screen is Command-4, but I almost never want to do that.

In Leopard and later, the following keys can be held down while selecting an area (via Command-Shift-4 or Command-Control-Shift-4):

Space, to lock the size of the selected region and instead move it when the mouse moves

Option, to resize the selected region with its center as the anchor point

I bought the new Roku streaming stick. I love it!!! So easy. And I can watch MLB.tv in addition to the Netflix, Hulu, etc. Wheeeee.

Cool! I love my Roku, and have been thinking about getting one of those for my bedroom TV.

This is my first Roku experience. Why didn't I listen to y'all?

Two of my tablets got wonky a few weeks ago, and I sent my wiped clean Tab to my parents, so I (by my count) required another tablet. I found a discount on a Nexus 7, and damn! That thing is pretty. The graphics are beautiful.

It lives on Command hooks mounted on the bookshelf that abuts my bed, set by default to a dark clock screen, and functions as my sleep control centre (inasmuch as my sleep can be controlled) with hypnosis, background noise, Fitbit app, etc.

Does anyone have a DLNA (UPnP? What's the correct terminology) client recommendation for Android? I swear I had one, but I've wiped that tablet since...

I'm tempted by the stick, if their client is better than my TV's.

MediaHome is what I use for a DLNA client. I have no idea if it's the best, but it functions. I've used BubbleUPNP before, but I think it's a bit bloatier as it can do DLNA server work as well.

I've never seen a streaming client that is nearly as good as the Roku. I have Netflix clients in my TV and my Blu-Ray player, and the Roku's is far more usable and quick. Not to mention the many other apps for it (I use Hulu Plus and Vudu regularly, Amazon on occasion, PBS Kids more often than I should, and the Roku Media Player - which is a very simple DLNA client, though the Roku doesn't support many formats that way - pretty often as well).

I am trying to set up Family Safety settings on mac's pc - it is Windows 8. Anyone care to help? I thought I had it set up fine and was just reducing his available time on it, but I do not think the settings are working at all, and NOW I cannot access any website from his account. I can from my account, but from his it says something about proxy server.

I am going to bed, but need to get this fixed tomorrow or Monday.

I think there is some Norton or McAfee or both trial things that came pre-loaded that I should probably delete or purge or exorcise. again need help.

I was just told that the Roku stick only connects to Plex servers, but I gave up on Plex and use Twonky instead. So it's not nearly as attractive as ten minutes ago. The only commercial streaming service I use is Netflix, and I have multiple ways to get that on my TV already, so.

OK, so, bought a Chromebook, the Acer C270 I think. It came yesterday, I plugged it in to charge it up overnight, I haven't been able to get it to start up. No power light, no battery status, no nothing. Is there something everyone but me knows to do to get these things ready to work? Like pulling the tab out of a battery or something?

...wow, these words mean nothing to me. I like my Roku, but haven't used it much, except to watch multiple episodes of Veronica Mars on Amazon Prime? But I also haven't been home with free time to watch random TV, much (that isn't on my TiVo waiting for me to watch it)?
