This TomTom is similar to the one I have, and comes with lifetime traffic and maps (important because otherwise the updates will wind up costing more than the device!)

it would still tie up my phone for long trips
Do you take a lot of complicated long trips where you need additional directions all the time? You can flip away from Waze, do stuff, and flip back. Normally I'm the queen of separate devices, but as long as I can charge as I go, I am good with the cost savings, since Waze is so consistently able to keep down my commute time.
serial: I know that if you flip over to other apps Waze will keep giving audio directions, as evinced by my confusion during phone calls.

I'm sad there never was an OS X Sphynx. Or OS X Hairless Cat.
I recently bought this bluetooth headset and so far I haven't been able to get any of the buttons on the device to work.
It says it's paired with my iPhone (4, running iOS 7) and it does transmit audio, but the play/pause, volume, ff/rw buttons are totally non-functional.
This is the first bluetooth headset I've had on iOS (my last was with my Treo) - is this sort of thing a common problem? Or do I just have a dud unit?
I overheard tech support at work trying to talk someone through setting their iPhone up as the mike/speakers for their laptop, so they could speak into it while using the software phone.
Has anyone heard of that? Is it doable?
Jessica, I have a bluetooth Jawbone and use it with my iPhone (5, running iOS 7) and haven't had a problem. But I don't have any fancy buttons either.
