So, my Kindle Keyboard is totally borked but Amazon will sell me a refurbished one (any model) with some pretty decent discounts.
The ones I'm interested in are:
Paperwhite $83
Paperwhite 3G $127.20
Kindle Fire 32GB $155
I'm leaning towards the Paperwhite (wifi only) since (a) it's the cheapest and (b) I already have an iPad so I don't really need a Kindle Fire. The only appeal there is that my iPad is technically my employer's hardware, so if I lose my job I have to give it back. That's not likely to happen, but it is in the back of my head.
My old Kindle had 3G but I didn't use it very often and wifi is available many more places now than it was a couple of years ago. Not sure it's worth an extra $50.
I ADORE my Paperwhite so, so much. It's SO nice not to have to have an external light to read when I am reading in bed. I have the 3G version and use the 3 G often enough to download new things on the go that I feel like the extra $ was worth it.
I really like the paperwhite too. It's easy to read in the dark or in full sunlight.
Most of the poor reviews talk about the screen being splotchy or displaying odd bands of color - has this been an issue for either of you?
I love love love love love Flipboard. And it has other uses (like creating your own magazine and sharing it with friends), following other topics and RSS feeds. Seeing your twitter feed, tumblr, etc.
My new phone came with Flipboard, and it seems really great! I can't figure out how the hell it organizes things, though; it seems to just show me random articles with no rhyme or reason.
Yes, Flipboard's organization (or lack thereof) is really annoying.
Flipboard is very very pretty, but damned if I can figure out how to get it to give me the information I want.
