What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I love love love love love Flipboard. And it has other uses (like creating your own magazine and sharing it with friends), following other topics and RSS feeds. Seeing your twitter feed, tumblr, etc.

My new phone came with Flipboard, and it seems really great! I can't figure out how the hell it organizes things, though; it seems to just show me random articles with no rhyme or reason.

Yes, Flipboard's organization (or lack thereof) is really annoying.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Flipboard is very very pretty, but damned if I can figure out how to get it to give me the information I want.

Yeah, that's also why I don't use Flipboard. I want my blogs in reverse chronological order, not whatever random order Flipboard's algorithm decides is the prettiest.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

So my building will be getting FiOS in a couple of months. Hmmm...

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I'm getting it installed tomorrow morning. It was cheaper than Charter for a better package. I was just looking at internet and cable. But it was cheaper to get the package with phone as well. Not likely to use it. Whatevs. Added Showtime, and it was still cheaper than Charter.

Install went well. about 2 hours. The DVR has a rather nice interface. Channel tuning is very speedy. The DVR controls are smooth. Very speedy search when you skip ahead/back. The Video On demand is easy to find shows (you can sort by channel (alphabetically) or by genre of shows). Some interesting settings. Like, you can add audio compression to mimize the dynamics. So the loud isn't so loud and the quiet isn't so hard to hear. You can adjust the skip back/forward times (10 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 5 min). Which was nice, so for the baseball game, I set the skip forward to 10 seconds, and turned it to a pitch by pitch viewing (almost). I have the 15/5 internet speed. The iPad app says the interent speed is 2/5, but there are a lot of reviews for the app that says it's speeds are way off. So, not sure if that is the app, or my speeds. I'm watching a HD movie on Netflix via AppleTV. It loaded really quick. Not a lot of spinny-spin like with Charter. And rewinding was pretty quick too. Haven't played with the phone, as I haven't dug the landline phone out of storage yet. Only reason I got it was the package with phone was cheaper than the one wiht out. But Verizon did call the number, and the TV gave me a caller ID to tell me someone is calling.

So far, the only annoying thing is, there is a big box on the wall that converts the optical to coax. It has a battery in it for back up, that way, if power goes out, you still have a phone. I had him mount it under the window, so it's hidden by the drapes. My friend has a house, and it's mounted in his garage. But for condo/apartments, a little harder. The other thing of note, the installer guy said the cable boxes won't work if the router is turned off. Even though the boxes aren't patched through it. Strange, but, there it is. I seem to recall U-verse doing similiar thing.

I've only had it a day now, but, I'm really close to calling it the best interface for DVR. The only thing keeping me from declaring out right winner, is U-verse was able to record 4 things at once (2 SD, 2 HD). Which was nice for recording news shows, as they all air around the same time.

If you have any specific questions/concerns, feel free to ask me. Happy to put things to the test for you.
