Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Huh, when I click View the attachment opens in a new tab, but I don't see any of those options. Maybe it depends on doc type?
It's ridiculous that Gmail, running in Chrome, can't do this automatically. I mean, come on Google.
Or you could get a box.net account and email the attachment to a shared folder.
Well, I can download the PDF and then upload it to Drive (and then delete the extra copy from my Downloads folder), so it's not like I can't *get* documents from Gmail to Drive, it's just that there's a stupid extra step in the way.
It used to be that you could email docs to google docs. I miss that.
here is the statement about which doc types you can view, send to docs, or download.

Weird. I sent myself a .pdf to try it out, and I'm using Firefox right now, but I know I've done the same thing using Chrome at work, probably with Excel files.
I just tried with a pdf, and I cannot save it to docs.
OK, I just opened Chrome to try it there, and I don't get any buttons when I view. Huh.
Eta: but I can add a .pdf to Drive using Firefox no problem.
Yahoo is buying Tumblr, so I'm not sure the comparision with Geocities works.
I should probably call my friend who was just hired by Tumblr and warn her that the end is nigh...
I'd be surprised if she didn't know, but does anyone have news on what plans Yahoo has for it? It fills a number of visual niches, not least of all because the pictures are only limited by a general sense of legality.
But I don't see how this is necessarily a worse thing than going to MS or FB, which seemed to be the other options.
Someone was buying that puppy, sooner rather than later.
