Oh, I just meant the Geocities parallels. I don't remember how long that brand persisted after 1999.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

Maybe they'll be a Flickr and not a Geocities--Flickr's limping around still. But does Yahoo need more staff?
I was just going to be off Tumblr for 2 months (Shelock spoilers and no Tumblr Savior for the iPad, which is all I have with me). Now I wonder what shape it will be in when I get back.
I'm sure the children are gnashing their teeth and rending their garments.
Thoughts on the Flickr redesign? My first impression, as someone who manages an account for my work, is that it's much less useful to us now.
Yeah, linear functionality pretty much doesn't exist any longer. For those of us with high difficulty processing visual polyglot, it's confusing, disorienting, and ultimately not worth perservering in trying to work with the new format. I'm looking for a downloader. There are pics on Flickr I only have on internal or external hard drives five computers back. But if Flickr doesn't restore some function, or provide alternate options for page views, I'm grabbing my pictures, even if I have to right-click-save each one individually, and deleting my pro account.
Annoyingly work sent out a link to pictures on Flickr today, and IE 8 (corporate standard) hung on the first page, and Mozilla's been trying to load the second page for over half an hour now.
THANKS GUYS.
I connect to work through VPN, and it was slightly hysterical trying to load Flickr today.
WTF? Flickr is a HOT MESS.
I created a family Flickr account for Tim's family to put up holiday/vacation/raking-the-leaves (seriously) pictures so that the rest of the family (but mostly Tim's 75-year-old, not-technologically-adept Dad) can see them. Tim's dad is NOT going to be okay with the changes. Jesus God.
sounds like this will be a good day for word press
If I purchase an app from the Google Store, and then I get a new phone, I don't have to re-buy the app, right? It looks like all the apps I've ever installed are in my account, even if I uninstalled them, so I can just go there and re-install everything on my new phone?
Man, I hope T-Mobile lets me get a new phone before my stupid contract is up in two months.
Also, my old phone can still be used as, like, a mini-computer thing, right? If I use WiFi, I can even be online with it? All that will happen is that I will no longer have access to the network on it since the SIM card will be in the new phone. So if I need to backup things and transfer them, I can do it after the fact too.
