Our wings are not tired

Yeah, tmobile is supposed to be much better in NYC than in LA. Cingular has tended to be pretty good in S. California, most likely due to the fact that way way back they originated at PacBell Wireless and probably still have remants of the better coverage here.

The status is NOT quo.

Oh, and btw, Cingular is in the process of changing its name to AT&T...not to be confused with AT&T Wireless, which was a completely different company.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wait--didn't Cingular buy AT&T Wireless a ways back? And now AT&T (formerly SBC Communications) has bought Cingular and is changing their name to match?

Yep, that's right. But apparently AT&T Wireless was managed badly, so they're trying to keep Cingular's reputation for better wireless coverage while moving back to an AT&T name to save marketing money.

I read that it was going to cost them close to a billion to change the name to AT&T, on a par with what it cost to change the name from SBC to AT&T in the first place.

The status is NOT quo.

It will. But the guy on NPR last night said that that money will be compensated for by the amount they'll save when marketing bundled services.

OK, humor someone allergic to actually buying her own hardware herself ( I usually inherit or let someone else do ALL the work) : $100 for 160 GB external hard drive is ok? I've googled, it seems like it. I think. Only reason I prefer buying from a store rather than online is that delivery is a royal bitch for me.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Wow. This world is wrong when numbers like that make sense.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Best Buy had 250GB external hard drives (Western Digital MyBooks) for $99 the last time I was there, but I think it was a sale price.

Thanks, Jessica, I'll check them out tomorrow. I don't really need that much space but needed a reality check (I'm just trying to expand to use my new 30GB ipod and do backup on my enormous 10 gb iBook laptop from who knows when! Heh.)
