Yep, that's right. But apparently AT&T Wireless was managed badly, so they're trying to keep Cingular's reputation for better wireless coverage while moving back to an AT&T name to save marketing money.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I read that it was going to cost them close to a billion to change the name to AT&T, on a par with what it cost to change the name from SBC to AT&T in the first place.

It will. But the guy on NPR last night said that that money will be compensated for by the amount they'll save when marketing bundled services.

OK, humor someone allergic to actually buying her own hardware herself ( I usually inherit or let someone else do ALL the work) : $100 for 160 GB external hard drive is ok? I've googled, it seems like it. I think. Only reason I prefer buying from a store rather than online is that delivery is a royal bitch for me.

Wow. This world is wrong when numbers like that make sense.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Best Buy had 250GB external hard drives (Western Digital MyBooks) for $99 the last time I was there, but I think it was a sale price.

Thanks, Jessica, I'll check them out tomorrow. I don't really need that much space but needed a reality check (I'm just trying to expand to use my new 30GB ipod and do backup on my enormous 10 gb iBook laptop from who knows when! Heh.)

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

You know, I've been sorta ignoring all the complaints about iPods until...my iPod broke! Is it seriously the case that for most users, it'll just crap out on you after two years and you'll have to buy a new one? I can't believe that service costs the same as a new frickin iPod!

I can't even.

Yeah, what they are really selling you is a delivery system subscription service. You load up all your stuff into iTunes and you pay them 200-500$ every couple of years by buying a new player so you can listen to it. It's evil genius, but that doesn't make it any less genius. (on iPod #3 here)

That actually makes me feel a bit better, since it's about what I'd pay for something like Netflix and wouldn't use for over an hour a day.
