iPhone question: I am currently an AT&T customer and am on a family plan with GF. If I were to buy an iPhone, and GF were to stay on her Razr, would they make us get off the family plan? In other words, do both people on a family plan have to be using the same equipment/services? I don't want her monthly rate to go up just because I want an iPhone.
'Safe'

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Kristin and I are on a family plan and the iphone added with no problems. You'll have a $20/mo charge added for he iPhone unlimited data. Others than that your plan will remain unchanged.
My experience was exactly as ND described. Also, we had to give up a 17% discount that Joe got for being in the Army.
I bought one (8 GB)!!!! SQUEE!!!! I went to the mall near my house first but they only had 4GB, so I went to the one in Santa Monica (3rd St.) and they had the 8GB. Another dude was there buying one and he said he'd been trying for the last week, so I'm feeling lucky that I was able to pick it up on the first day I tried to get one.
Cingular will be able to make the changes to my account at night, right? I want to wait to activate it until I'm on my Mac at home. It's already torturous to look at it all day and not be able to play. I want to do the whole deal tonight when I get home. They better be there to do it!
I held one!!!
Of course, it hasn't been activated, but it sure is purty....
Yes you can activate at night.
Did I mention we went to the apple store the other weekend and called people on the iPhone? mr. flea was like, "Hi Dad! I'm calling from an iPhone!" His father said, "Uh, that's nice..."
I played with one two nights ago! I was at a friend's house for dinner and he casually pulled it from his pocket and let me play with it as long as I liked. And boy does that sound porny now that I've written it out...
Mr cousin got married over the weekend. I brought my iPhone to the rehearsal dinner. He was super excited to play with it and was showing it to all the groomsmen. Eventually, it made it's way to my brother who asked, "Whose iPhone?" When he found out it was me, he responded, "You bastard!"
Totally worth the $600 just for that.
(Oh, and I totally recommend setting up and then letting it sync while you sleep. I had to sync mine 2-3 times before my contacts transferred. Weird.)
The Aliph Jawbone is interesting. Apparently a busy LA intersection and my bedroom both sound the same to the person on the other end--and clear. The sound *I* hear isn't as good as with my Motorola, but it's certainly perfectly clear. It's just a bit more hollow.
Most of the complaints I've read about it are comfort. There are four earbuds and four over the ear hooks. I've only tried one so far--not comfortable enough for a half hour yet.
