ION, I am SO not a visual person...and I just spent 6 hours working with my friend on my header image for my website. And we're still not done, but we've worked out a color palette, fonts and basic images, and she's gonna mock up 5 or 6 designs based on graphics I like. Damn, I'm so freakin' glad she's my friend and I'm working out stuff in trade for her; I scoffed at people who were all "I spent $1500 on my website images" and now? Dude. Yeah. 6 hours is NOTHING. SO many colors, graphics and fonts, not to mention little...things I don't even know how to describe.

My header is for a Wordpress.org page, and the image size is 940x200 pixels, and she emailed a rough draft placeholder in that size to me, I uploaded it, and it looks good to me. But I am...not the most visually expert person on the planet.

I'm wondering how concerned I need to be about resolution or it looking weird on non-Firefox broswers? It's a .jpg.

A .jpg or .gif will render the same on any browser. Earlier versions of Internet Explorer won't render transparency on .png files without additional contortions. For the web, you only need a 72 pixels/inch resolution.

eta: Typo, have you checked WalMart's site? They have a Viore for $119 and a Phillips for $149. I've had very good luck with Phillips.

I love Google Voice. Their transcription is by no means perfect, but it's certainly good enough (unless it's my sister talking) for me to feel comfortable with not listening to the message any time soon.

My home phone doesn't blink, it beeps on the dial tone. And since I never give anyone my home number except vendors and so forth, I never remember to check it.

Which is a problem when my father leaves a message and I don't pick it up for three weeks.

I am ridiculously excited for my new phone because I will have visual voicemail and can listen OUT OF ORDER. Which means I can keep avoiding some of the voicemail! Bless.
