OK so it looks like a $139 Scepre TV ordered though Target.com is the cheapest I can find at the moment. No one complained about bad sound quality or it dying after three weeks as they did with many of the others.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

So this universal charger should work with my Samsung Exhibit, right?

Probably.

just a universal micro USB charger.

I think this is the key. What I have for traveling with my Droid is a wall charger with a USB-A socket, a car charger with a USB-A socket, and a cable with a USB-A plug on one end and a USB-micro-B plug on the other. I swap the charger on the cable as needed, and I can also use the same cable to connect the Droid to my laptop for file transfers.

once you stick a screen protector on, can you safely remove it?

Yes. It's just a cling film, like a window decal.

Cool, thanks, dcp. I'm going to see if my Motorola charger works on this phone; that would save me at least one charger to buy. Although at six to ten bucks a pop, hey, put one in every room or something. Jesus, T-Mobile, how are you charging twenty or thirty bucks for these things?

Yes. It's just a cling film, like a window decal.

When I cut it to fit, should it cover the entire front or just the actual screen? I don't know if covering the front-facing camera will be an issue. I guess I can cut a little hole for it.

Cover whatever you want to protect, of course. Probably best not to cover the speaker.

IME, a notch is easier to cut than a hole.

Trying my Motorola charger won't make my phone explode, right? I mean, either it will start charging or it won't? Or should I compare voltages or whatever on the Motorola charger and the Samsung charger they gave me to make sure they're identical?

Cover whatever you want to protect, of course. Probably best not to cover the speaker.

Ah, point.

IME, a notch is easier to cut than a hole.

Also, point.

Oh, and I should attempt to clean my screen of fingerprints before I apply a screen protector. Can I use the same cleaning stuff I use to clean my glasses with? And the microfiber cloth? Everyone loves a microfiber cloth.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

For cleaning, yep, that works fine.

Check the label on the charger to be sure of what you have, but if it the output is 5 Volts and a max. of 1 Amp., it should be fine.

Man, smartphones are so HIGH-MAINTENANCE.

But last night, I turned my phone into a compass. A compass!

Oh, cool! I haven't tried that yet. I do like the Flashlight app, for when I have to step carefully into the yard at night (for avoiding dog poop and snails).

Which one do you use? I got Brightest Flashlight, which uses the camera flash and is, indeed, bright, and I also got Color Flashlight, which I actually want for the different settings like Candle and Strobe and other flashy things that may be useful for, like, holding up the phone in a crowd and saying, "Look for the flashing red and blue!"

The compass app is just called Compass, and it's pretty cool and simple. It has a compass, and it even tells you what street you're on, along with latitude and longitude. And there are several different compass styles.

Well, the Motorola charger is a mini USB, not a micro USB, so that's a no-go. Plus, even if I get a converter, it only goes to 0.55 A, as opposed to the Samsung, which goes to 0.7 A. Not sure what the deal is. Alas.
