"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

TB, have you tried Google reader's mobile version? I use that (I have a LOT of feeds) when I want something less resource intensive).

Other than that, I don't really have a suggestion. I have heard about Gruml (mac).

Hey. New board.

NetNewsWire on a Mac is good. The ads are unobtrusive and the interface is smooth.

I don't know anything about windows readers.

ETA: If I were on Windows, this would be my first try: [link]

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So I have this weird problem with printing in MS Access... or maybe it's a problem with the print spooler. I don't know.

We have this Access form that shows a bunch of invoices. One option on this form is the ability to print four copies of each invoice on the form. So, using VBA DAO, I made a function that loops through the invoices - for each invoice, a function is called that loops four times to print the four copies of each invoice.

So if there are ten invoices, the outer loop runs ten times, and for each invoice the inner loop runs 4 times, for a total of 40 separate print jobs that get sent to the print spooler, all in, say, less than a second.

The problem is when I run it here, it works fine, but when our client runs it, the invoices sometimes print out of order. So it seems to me that the Access program must be sending stuff to the print spooler in the correct order but then somehow stuff prints out of order.

Any ideas?

eta: This is one of those annoying intermittent problems. I suppose I could put in a delay for each step in the outer loop... but that seems kludgey to me, and who knows it it'd work all the time.

eta²: Ooh - there are printing settings that can affect the order that the spooler prints stuff.

Go into properties on the printer, to the Advanced tab. You may need to play around with the Spool settings to get things to come out in the proper order. If it's set to start printing after last page is received, the smaller docs are going to print first because they'll finish spooling first.

does anyone have any recs for video editing software for the Mac? reasonable price would be swell as well because for right now, it will just be a hobby and i can't see paying exorbitant amounts of money for something i'm not sure i'll love.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Final Cut Pro Express? (I say this without knowing how much it costs.)

Is this for the G4? You're going to have a hard time finding current software that will run on non-Intel Macs.

move out and draw fire

I have questions about del.ici.ous

I add bookmarks to it from home and work and wherever I happen to be with my netbook.

But bookmarks I add at work, I can't see on home/netbook, and vice versa.

I use Chrome; work uses Firefox. Would this make a difference? Also, I use toolbar button extensions in each case.

My hatred for iMovie knows no bounds, so I'd say your best bet is to look for an old version of either Premiere or Final Cut Express.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I think the old versions of iMovie were quite decent. Not fond of the recent revs, though.

tiggy, get familiar with Low End Mac [link] I think you'll find it a useful site. Ebay and Craig's List are places to look for old versions of software programs although it never hurts to ask here and other places because a lot of people are slow about clearing out their old software programs.
