Try using two fingers to scroll.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
hmmm...nope. nothing!
tiggy, I think there are third-party mouses you can use that have a way to program scrolling in. Wish I had better advice, but I just click and drag my scroll bars the old-fashioned way.
tiggy, the iBook G4 had to have special software installed to enable 2-finger scrolling, if I recall correctly (that was three laptops ago for me. I'm kind of hard on them.) To confirm, you could click the Apple Menu in the upper left corner, choose System Preferences, and choose "Trackpad" (or it may be called "Mouse and Trackpad" or something, depending on your operating system version) then look through those preferences and see if you can enable 2-finger scrolling.
If it's not there, you could try installing this: [link] which will add that ability.
bless you, Gris! that worked like a charm!
Yay!
Yeah, when the iBook G4 was around, one of the features that the Powerbook G4 had that distinguished it from the iBook was two-finger scrolling, but it was readily apparent that Apple was disabling it at the software level. They were trying REALLY hard to convince people to buy the underpowered Powerbook G4s toward the end of their life cycle (after they realized G5s would never work on laptops, but before the Intel switch) and it led to some rather annoying artificial limiting of the iBooks.
i'm guessing i'll get the two-fingered scrolling down, but right now it's SUPERFASTOMG!
i'm not even sure how old this iBook is. i'm guessing 5 years or so.
It's time for me to find another used Powerbook or Macbook or two. My Aunt Katherine wants one instead of the iMac I was getting for her. Also? Andi's Powerbook is getting old and I'd like to make it our spare, so something for her is in the near future.
$igh, $$$
Just exported my feeds from Bloglines and imported them into Google Reader. Still don't like Google Reader. *sigh*
I can't use Google Reader. As I said causes my computer to crash, and probably my computer's fault not Google Reader's. So Alternative readers? (Non-web based clients are fine.)
