It does not need a connection to work, the mapset is part of the application.
But doesn't it need the GPS to be active in order to give you directions?

It does, but I think the GPS will work even if the mobile data connection is turned off, and as such you won't incur charges. You just need to make sure that the checkbox for not allowing international data roaming is checked.

Aha - that makes sense, actually. I'd been thinking data = data, but the GPS is a separate doohickey than the 3G radio, isn't it?
That's kinda nifty.
I have to say, I have a big technical issue with my Chumby. The time-from-the-internet? Sucks. Runs ahead. I need to google. I can only reset it by turning the time to manual and back to internet set.
Hey peeps: I currently have a ton of paid for apps on my iPhone 3G. When I upgrade to 3GS will I have to buy them all again?
Also, if anyone here is interested in buying my old one, shoot me an email.
They should all transfer over to your new iPhone. Make sure you have a currently sync of the phone on your computer, when you hook up the new phone iTunes should ask you if you want to transfer all settings from your old iPhone.
Oh right! Thanks for the sync reminder. I don't have music on the phone, so I haven't synced in months. That's good news. Thanks, Drew.
Ok Folks, It's that time again. I'm looking for Mac laptop parts.
Currently I'm looking to upgrade Andi's Powerbook titanium 17in to a new HDD, and maybe RAM. I may buy new, but I'm looking to recycle unwanted/unneeded equipment
If anyone is willing to part with their old IDE laptop hard drives (Mac or Windows), I would gladly pay for time and postage. If you don't want to just give it up, name your price, I will certainly consider it fully.
Also I need an old-style Airport card for a G4 Mac for my cousin that was just admitted to a long term care apartment, as his health has deteriorated.
As always I am looking for dead or dying Apple laptops made after 2001 to practice on and to scavenge for parts, so drop me a line. I need to update my skills.
Thanks for your consideration.
Can someone confirm something for me? You know how component video cables are red, blue and green? And then there are those other RCA A/V cables that are red, white and yellow? Is there any difference between these two types of RCA cables other than the color of the plastic?
