I like books. I just don't want to take on too much. Do they have an introduction to the modern blurb?

Sigh. After much much help from my friend who used to be a Comcast installer, and a trip to their office to get a free "DTA box" (um, OK?) and fiddling with that, and giving up on it, and several calls to their help people, and finally rehooking everything up, and re-doing Guided Setup with my TiVo and unearthing the IR cables that came with the TiVo when I bought it lo these...three or four years ago?...thank god, my TiVo is working with the digital TV transition. Whew!

And here I was, thinking "la la la, I have cable, I don't need to worry about it!" Harumph.

“Not dead yet!”

Wheeeee!!!

I didn't have a chance to do it this morning, since I had a meeting to go to, but once I got home, I followed the instructions and I got it done-- I now have it all separated into individual tracks and was even able to leave off the one track I don't like. Thanks again, le nubian!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

oh awesome. I'm pleased my directions worked. (what a relief)

“Not dead yet!”

Yeah, it was super easy-- it's just not the kind of thing I would have had any kind of instinct for figuring out on my own. I'm just not inherently good with the investigative button-pushing, but I am good at following directions.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Firefox seems to clear my cookies periodically. Is this a feature or a bug?

And if it is a feature, is there somewhere I can change it?

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

In Firefox, Ctrl+Shift+Del is the command to clear private data, including cookies. Do you use that command for anything else?

You can select just what gets deleted when you clear private data in Tools-->Options-->Privacy-->Private Settings.

I suppose I might accidentally hit Crtl+Shift+Delete while trying to hit Shift+Delete. Hmm.

The settings look fine -- it isn't set to clear things automatically, and even when I clear private data, it's supposed to leave cookies.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Dana,

when I go to firefox, my settings are: "keep cookies until they expire."

Is yours set similarly? I do have web sites that expire from time to time.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yes, it's set to keep until they expire. And as far as I can tell, it's all my cookies. Here, LJ, delicious, Netflix, everything.
