The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

In Firefox, Ctrl+Shift+Del is the command to clear private data, including cookies. Do you use that command for anything else?

You can select just what gets deleted when you clear private data in Tools-->Options-->Privacy-->Private Settings.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I suppose I might accidentally hit Crtl+Shift+Delete while trying to hit Shift+Delete. Hmm.

The settings look fine -- it isn't set to clear things automatically, and even when I clear private data, it's supposed to leave cookies.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Dana,

when I go to firefox, my settings are: "keep cookies until they expire."

Is yours set similarly? I do have web sites that expire from time to time.

Yes, it's set to keep until they expire. And as far as I can tell, it's all my cookies. Here, LJ, delicious, Netflix, everything.

Hey. New board.

I'm running a new channel scan in light of Friday's Official Analog Shutoff, but my TV claims it has found 42 analog channels so far (it hasn't started the digital scan yet).

What the what?

All is well that ends in pizza.

They might not be broadcasting anything. Blank channels.

Or else they are engaging in voluntary Analog Nightlight.

From Slashdot:

Local stations may participate in the voluntary 'Analog nightlight' services in which TV stations agree to keep an analog signal turned on in addition to their digital signals to provide information about the DTV transition and to notify unprepared TV viewers of emergencies, such as hurricanes."

I think there is a time limit, though, as new uses are coming for the bandwidth.

My Safari just upgraded to 4.0.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Daniel, I actually like it, except for the relocation of the refresh button. I get a HUGE kick out of the "Show Top Sites" grid. Mine are very predictable (b.org, LiveJournal, Lolcats, the Cincinnati Library, etc.).
